On Sense Division in a Bilingual Dictionary
Hagenhoferová, Lucie ; Vachková, Marie (advisor) ; Šemelík, Martin (referee)
This thesis deals with the dividing the dictionary entry into several "sub-meanings", i.e. with the sense division, and with the closely related ordering of these "sub-meanings", i.e. with the sense ordering, with the bilingual passive German-Czech dictionary in the centre of interest. This thesis deals shortly also with the discriminating the senses by different means, i.e. with the sense discrimination. With these three subjects chronologically following the lexicographic decisions the matter of equivalence and the understanding of the term of meaning are correlated. In the theoretical part of this thesis the specifics of the sense division and the sense ordering in the monolingual and in the bilingual lexicography are introduced, in the practical part of this thesis the possibilities of the sense division and the sense ordering are exemplified with ten chosen substantive lemmas prepared for the Large German-Czech Academic Dictionary in progress. For every lemma the most suitable arrangement of the lemma is suggested, which is then compared with the corresponding dictionary entry in the source dictionary Duden - Deutsches Universalwörterbuch. The differences between the arrangements of the microstructure illustrate the necessity of the revision and eventual modification of the adopted structure...
Habitat dependence of persistence of clonal connection in plants
Martincová, Nina ; Weiser, Martin (advisor) ; Koubek, Tomáš (referee)
The review is about the role of environment to the longevity of connection in clonal plants. The first part is dealing with theoretical models, which describe the interaction of plants with different strategies in longevity of clonal connection in a model habitat. Subsequently, it analyses concrete attributes of the environment - heterogeneity, carrying capacity, amount of disturbances and competition. This part focuses more thoroughly on their impact on persistence of clonal connection and strategy of clonal reproduction in general. The last part refers to some other phenomena which could influence the length of persistence of a clonal connection.
Splitting and Dissociation in Schizophrenia
Pěč, Ondřej ; Raboch, Jiří (advisor) ; Šípek, Jiří (referee) ; Kocourková, Jana (referee)
The term splitting is defined as a process of formation of mental aggregates linked incompatible experiences producing numerous divisions in mental apparatus. Current findings indicate that psychological splitting in schizophrenia is likely specifically presented on a neural level as disrupted organization in neural communication. This disrupted neural communication likely underlies deficits in mental processing described by various neuroscientific concepts such as theories of disturbed connectivity, corollary discharges and dynamic complexity. In this context, a purpose of the theoretical part of the dissertation is to describe basic neuroscience theories that complementarily reflect interrelated processes between mind and brain underlying disturbances of mental integration that likely present a neural representation of the splitting. A purpose of the first part of the empirical research was to examine relationships between psychological process of splitting and disturbed cognitive and affective functions in schizophrenia. A sample of patients with borderline personality disorder (BPD) was used as a control group in this study. Methods: In the clinical study, we have assessed 30 patients with schizophrenia and 35 patients with BPD. The symptoms of splitting were measured using self- reported...
Methodology of traditional working of construction timber for structural repairs of historical buildings
Kloiber, Michal ; Růžička, Petr ; Tippner, J. ; Kunecký, Jiří
The publication deals with a methodological description of traditional (manual) wood working for structural measures in repairs of historical buildings. The methodology includes the results of experimental testing performed during timber logging in various seasons (winter, spring, summer), results for different ways of working (cutting, splitting, hewing, and combination of hewing with floating), results of verifying the elimination of growth (residual) stresses in wood selection and working (selection of wood without natural defects and intentional interventions during working). The resulting methodology meets the protection standards of cultural heritage, in particular the requirement to minimize interference with the original material, while using the original working technology for newly incorporated elements including material selection. The methodology describes the prerequisites for use and the necessary marginal conditions, material selection, handling and storage of logs, woodworking technology (hewing, splitting, and cutting), but also storage of worked elements until the actual structural repair, while presenting the version of minimum interference with the original material using traditional (manual) working of timber on specific examples of structural elements.

Longitudinal log splitting in repairs of timber structures
Kloiber, Michal ; Hrivnák, Jaroslav ; Bryol, R. ; Tippner, J.
The range of technologies used has lacked a description of the traditional longitudinal log splitting, which was often used in order to utilize the maximum possible volume of timber extracted for constructions (especially rural timbered buildings). Longitudinal splitting supports carpentry sustainability as well as allows for accurate replication of the original elements (in dimension, shape, technology). Therefore, the research focused on the design of a procedure practically usable and applicable in the common practice for repairs of timber structures, especially historical monuments. Such a procedure is longitudinal splitting using wedges (metal and wooden) and mallets. The aim of the heritage conservation procedure was to practically describe the technical solution, the technological procedure of longitudinal log splitting allowing the use of hand tools only. The procedure respects the protection of cultural heritage standards, in particular the requirement to minimize interference with the original material, while retaining high accuracy of reproduction of the original properties of structural elements.

Mechanism and risk factors for the development of monozygotic twins in mammals
Žabková, Světlana ; Krylov, Vladimír (advisor) ; Petr, Jaroslav (referee)
Monozygotic twins result from the splitting of one embryo in early embryonic development. The developmental stage, in which the splitting occurs, is the main factor determining the degree of sharing fetal sacs. The etiology and mechanism of monozygotic twinning are still unknown. The human and two species of armadillo, Dasypus novemcinctus and Dasypus hybridus are the only mammals that regularly produce monozygotic multiple pregnancies. The spontaneous occurrence of monozygotic twinning is 0,45 % of all births. The monozygotic twin pregnancies have been reported to occur at a higher rate following the increasing interest of assisted reproduction technologies. In certain consideration, we understand them as a side effect of infertility treatment because monozygotic twins result in a higher rate of prenatal mortality, premature birth and congenital anomalies than singleton pregnancies. This bachelor thesis aims to summarize knowledge about the formation of monozygotic twins in mammals. Also, it tries to discuss potential mechanisms and risk factors which could influence their formation. Monozygotic twins are an important model for explaining the genetic predisposition of some diseases. The thesis also introduces the ways of experimental production of monozygotic twins. Keywords: monozygotic twins,...
Burnout syndrome in Health Care Professionals.
Riethof, Norbert ; Bob, Petr (advisor) ; Světlák, Miroslav (referee) ; Pauknerová, Daniela (referee)
N. Riethof - Burnout syndrome in Health Care Professionals ABSTRACT Burnout syndrome is a state of total exhaustion related to work condi- tions and prolonged stress. While initial phases of burnout resemble stress symptoms, final phases of burnout are characterized by feelings of hopelessness, loss of meaning and desperation that have similar qual- ities as depression as well as existential vacuum described by Frankl in his logotherapy. In addition, the burnout syndrome involves stages in which people detach from their emotions and feelings as a defense mechanism against stress and have decreased ability to experience their own feelings and emotional states. Burnout usually begins with feelings of enthusiasm and idealized visualizations and it is in contrast with sub- sequent disillusionment, disappointment experienced later. After decades of burnout research, there is still a need for better def- inition of this condition including more precise diagnostic criteria and internationally recognized measurement tools, especially within health care system where the risks of unrecognized and untreated burnout are high. This study is focused on examination of potential causes of burn- out and relationships of burnout symptoms with certain personality traits, defense mechanisms and coping reactions including...
